Join us for a fun and memorable 3 hour sea kayak tour on beautiful Lopez Island! This paddling opportunity is ideal for your family vacation, girls day out, corporate retreat, church activity, school group, anniversary, or just because!

Our popular 3 hour tour is just the right length for the beginning paddler or if you are looking to fit several activities into a single day. We will cover approximately 2-3 miles of protected shoreline, paddling at a leisurely pace. Bald eagles, harbor seals, purple and orange starfish, moon jellies, dals porpoises, herons, and dungeness crabs are just some of the marine critters and wildlife that we regularly encounter on this tour. You will be outfitted in one of our stable fiberglass double or triple kayaks, spray skirt and pfd. Your guides will prepare you for your tour with basic paddling instruction prior to getting on the water, as well as answer any questions you have. Please come prepared with sandals that strap on (or shoes that will get wet!), a lightweight rain jacket/windbreaker, shorts or pants that can roll up to the knees, and a hat or visor. Sunscreen, chap-stick and a camera are also recommended!
Tours depart from Spencer Spit State Park on Lopez Island. To get to Lopez, you will take a ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington. Ferry schedules are posted online – we recommend that walk-on passengers arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, and drive-on passengers arrive at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (arrive even earlier on holidays and August weekends!). Spencer Spit is located approximately 4 miles from the Lopez Ferry dock; an easy bike ride (allow 45-60 minutes if riding) or short drive, following your 45-minute ferry trip aboard a Washington State Ferry boat. Lopez Island is the first ferry stop after leaving the Anacortes Terminal; approximately a 45 minute ride. Known as “the friendly isle” everyone waves to everyone on Lopez! Featuring beautiful Spencer Spit State Park, several county parks, and endless lodging options including numerous Bed & Breakfasts, Lopez Island is the ideal destination for a day trip, relaxing weekend or an adventurous week-long vacation. Be sure to pick up a Lopez Map from the ferry information kiosk and take advantage of the detailed island map and visitor information to make your trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible. This guided tour is offered on various weekdays and most weekends during the peak summer months, on weekends during the early summer and fall, and for groups of 4 or more by request (when schedule allows).

Please note: Your kayak tour departs from Spencer Spit State Park and all vehicles must display a Discover Pass/parking permit. If you have a camping reservation at Spencer Spit for the day of your kayak tour your camping reservation stub or receipt will serve as your parking permit. Reservations

The Lopez Island Kayak Tour is available on select weekdays and weekends as shown in the calendar on this page. We schedule our tour start times to accommodate those arriving by ferry, and because the WA State Ferry System changes their schedule quarterly, the dates available for new reservations on the calendar below may be limited until the upcoming ferry schedule is announced. When possible, we will open up additional trip times once the current availability is filled.

Please note that all trips have a minimum number of participants. If you register for a trip that does not yet have the required number of paddlers, we may be forced to reschedule your trip. We will notify you by phone and email at least 24 hours in advance in this situation to discuss alternate dates and times.

Alternate Locations and times are available. If you would like to inquire about a guided paddling adventure at one of the Northwest’s other beautiful State Park beaches please let us know. Custom group kayak trips are available year-round for a minimum fee.
