Sample Itinerary:
Day #1
Meet your paddling instructors at the Outdoor Adventure Center in Index at 2pm (please eat a hearty lunch prior to arrival). We'll begin with some paddling basics, river safety, and basic skills (about 4 hours) before heading to camp to set up tents at our private riverside campground near Index. You'll be treated to a delicious rib-eye steak dinner at our Cafe (vegetarian option available - beer/wine available for purchase).
Day #2
Meet your instructors at 9am to suit up for another exciting day of skill-building on the water (approximately 4 hours). Today's goal is to increase your ability to maneuver your way downstream, and gain comfort and independence as an IK paddler. We'll have a mid-morning snack during our river adventure. Lunch will be served around 1pm at the Cafe, where you'll also be able to view (and purchase!) some photos of your paddling exploits - perfect for sharing with friends and family! Our riverside hot tub is also available to you, as well as our selection of beer and wine (beverages not included in trip fee). Feel free to relax and enjoy your afternoon or take advantage of a local hike before returning home.
Each participant must review and complete our Liability/Medical Release form prior to taking part in an activity. Minors must have a parent signature. If you would like to have a copy of this form emailed to you please contact us.

In this 2-day adventure, we'll cover the necessities of river paddling, including... river safety, an overview of river hydrology, capsizes and re-entry, paddlestrokes, boat handling and maneuvering, and how to avoid common injuries. This trip takes place on Class I-III whitewater and is designed for beginning paddlers who have a desire to safely navigate and enjoy Class II rivers.
On day #1 we will spend time getting familiar and comfortable with our equipment by practicing skills in a flatwater eddy or calm river section. Once you've gained some experience in paddling, maneuvering through eddy lines, and getting into/out of your boat we'll travel downriver for an afternoon of skill-building and fun! We'll be camping at our private riverside campground near the town of Index after a delicious dinner and a soak in the hot tub.
Day #2 includes another down-river trip as we continue to gain confidence and learn basic rescue/safety skills. You'll learn to maneuver around rocks and other objects as you practice your paddletrokes and basic rescues. Throughout the trip your instructors will help you to build your kayaking skills and increase your river safety awareness.
