Wilderness First Aid Class Near Seattle
Course Description
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care.
Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
The Wilderness First Aid program is an objectives‐driven, skills‐based program. Upon completion of this program, a student must have demonstrated adequate core knowledge and skill ability. This course is designed for individuals who require or desire wilderness first aid knowledge and skills, but are not professional responders; including adventure guides, outdoor enthusiasts, camp counselors and administrators, camp participants, park and forest rangers, Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders, Merchant Mariners, and other occupations that work in a wilderness environment.
Course scenarios will take place indoors and outdoors – come prepared to work in conditions that may be wet, cold, muddy, etc.
**May also be used to update or renew your Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, depending on the organization**
