The Perfect Way to End the Day!

Lopez Island is the best island destination for family biking, hiking, sunsets, picnics, and photographs. Set up camp at Spencer Spit State Park, then join us on the water for an incredible island experience.

Our guided Lopez Island Sunset Kayak tour is a leisurely evening activity lasting approximately 2 hours. Before launching, your kayak guide will provide an overview of the basics of paddling in a quick and fun manner so that you can relax and enjoy your time on the water. We utilize our stable double and triple sea kayaks for the sunset tours.

This is a kid-friendly trip — bring the whole family! Youth ages 6+ are welcome (with parent), and ages 6-12 (or those who wish to relax and take photos!) are best matched with 2 adult paddlers in a triple (we want everyone to have a relaxing and enjoyable time!). Come explore with us! Please plan for up to 3 hours total for this excursion for ferry/travel planning.

This kayak tour is available on select days in July and August.

What We’ll See

Our Lopez kayak tours are all unique! Bald eagles, harbor seals, purple and orange starfish, moon jellies, dals porpoises, herons, and Dungeness crabs are just some of the marine critters and wildlife that we may encounter on this tour.

Of course, there are many other sights to enjoy! Seaplanes, passenger ferries, beachfront cabins, and driftwood creations are just some of the unique island scenes you can expect. Feel free to bring your waterproof camera!

Washington State Ferries now accepts vehicle reservations for travel to the San Juan Islands – we recommend that you make a ferry reservation!

Parking Pass for State Parks: Your Lopez Island kayak tour departs from Spencer Spit State Park and your vehicle must display a Discover Pass. If you have a camping reservation at Spencer Spit for the day of your kayak tour your camping reservation stub or receipt will serve as your permit. Please review the information on the State’s webpage for updates and additional details, or to purchase a Discover Pass.

Please note that all trips have a minimum number of participants. If you register for a trip that does not yet have the required number of paddlers, we may be forced to reschedule your trip. We will notify you by phone and email at least 24 hours in advance in this situation to discuss alternate dates and times.
