Raft Guides
Outdoor Adventures Raft Guides provide our guests with the highest quality rafting adventures on various river sections depending on their training and experience. Generally, class II-III (developing) guides work alongside trip leaders to provide educational/recreational trips for families, teens and first-time rafters. Seasoned raft guides (with 2+ consecutive seasons on class III+ under their belt) who demonstrate a high level of skill and responsibility generally guide on our more adventurous river sections (up to class V). We encourage you to include a river log and a letter of introduction with your application, with details on where you have trained/worked, along with copies of any certifications completed.

Kayak Instructor
OA’s Kayak Instructors have received extensive safety and customer-service training. Depending on your qualifications, we have kayak instructor and guide positions on the coast – primarily Lopez Island (tours and multiday expeditions) and on WA rivers – primarily on the Skykomish River (tours and classes). Please include a letter of introduction with your application, with details on where you have trained/worked, along with copies of any certifications completed.

Weekend Grill Cook & Event Staff

Events & Marketing Intern
CLOSING DATE: April 24, 2019 HOURS: 
May/June – Part-time (approx 16-20 hours/week)
July & August – Full time (40+ hours/week)
September – Part-time (approx 16-20 hours/week)
Includes evening and weekend hours.
COMPENSATION: $1,000 summer stipend, $100 per month gas/travel credit, free raft & kayak adventure trips, free kayak rentals on Lopez Island, free adventure guide training opportunities, excellent portfolio-building opportunity!
DATES: Summer 2019 (May-September; start/end dates can be discussed)
REPORTS TO: Facility & Events Manager (works directly with Program Managers)
BACKGROUND: The Outdoor Adventure Center and River House property provide the greater Seattle area with incredible guided recreation opportunities adjacent to the Wild Sky Wilderness and year-round event facilitation. Our historic riverfront property is located in the scenic mountain town of Index, WA and hosts rafting & kayaking activities, professional guide training courses, youth camps, skills clinics, weekend special events, weddings and celebrations.

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking an energetic and creative young professional who would like to build on our brand and vision by helping in all stages of planning and executing events large and small, and provide marketing and event support through photos, videos, quotes, testimonials, social media posts, website edits, in-person sales and promotion. This includes interactions with guests and potential customers both at on-site and off-site events, taking photos of groups participating in our adventures (rafting, kayaking, youth camps, etc) for social media and print materials, soliciting quotes and testimonials from customers, assisting in the creation of targeted marketing materials, providing editing suggestions and implementation for websites and print materials, assisting with event planning and logistics (including leading facility tours for potential sales), assisting the Facility Manager with event preparations (layouts, rentals, etc) and execution, and assisting in the distribution of marketing materials.
This internship offers a unique opportunity for a hands-on role in event planning and marketing in the incredible fields of adventure and events.
YOU ARE:
1. Skilled in oral and written communications, proofreading skills.
2. Comfortable interacting with the public, in-person and on-phone. 
3. Able to ask people and businesses for things (donations, participation, etc.)
4. Able to be proactive and work independently with a “can-do attitude”
5. Detail-oriented and able to prioritize
6. Professional and courteous at all times with public, guests and co-workers.
7. Experienced with MS Office, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Adobe Photo & Video Suite, etc
8. Comfortable working in an outdoor environment (approx 50% of the time) including river banks, coastal beaches, campgrounds, etc.
9. Able to effectively & respectively communicate ideas and suggestions
10. Able to accept feedback from management and co-workers as a valuable part of the learning process
11. Able to accurately represent our company vision and values to the public
12. Able to network in event and marketing circles – this may include attending meetings with management at the county level
13. Familiar with recreation users and how to market our services to them
14. Familiar with the range of preparation/planning/logistics for planning weddings and events
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires good vision and hearing for camera, computer and telephone work. The ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds is helpful. A reasonable level of physical fitness is desirable, as intern will be participating in a variety of adventure programs on a regular basis.

Customer Service / Adventure Reservationist
