This family-friendly, class III beginner-level rafting adventure begins at the River House in Index; our beautifully restored adventure facility. Here you'll view our safety video and receive your river gear; a wetsuit, booties, helmet, and pfd (changing rooms provided). Next, we'll shuttle to our nearby launch point where you'll be treated to an informative and fun "paddle talk" from your guide who will teach you some basic rafting paddlestrokes and safety techniques prior to launching the raft.

Your river adventure includes rafting on the beautiful Skykomish River through class III whitewater rapids such as Railroad and Fisherman's, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the river from your entertaining guide. This activity may include a chance to swim, try your hand with the "guide" stick, and compete in group challenges. We look forward to spending some time on this beautiful section of the river with you!

And don't worry - our photographer will be there to capture the most memorable moments so that you can share them with your friends, family, and co-workers! Photos are available for viewing and purchase in our retail store following your trip.

Why Choose Outdoor Adventure Center?

About the Skykomish River
The Skykomish River comes tumbling down from the North Central Cascades through a steep and rugged valley. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in the state. Fed by the Cascades' many tributaries, the amount of water moving through this section of river (the CFS) changes daily based on rainfall and snowmelt. We reserve the right to transfer your trip to an alternate Skykomish River run if water levels require.
