Arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled trip start time.
Check in using your last name.
Trips begin on time (don't miss the boat!) with a greeting from your guides.
After a brief orientation and safety video (about 10 minutes total) you'll fill out a Liability/Medical Release Form for the trip.
Once your paperwork is turned in, we'll suit up in wetsuits and related safety attire.
We'll assign boat groups (generally 5-6 paddlers per boat) based on adventure level and who you have signed up with.
Your boat guide will provide instruction on paddle commands and safety procedures before we launch.
After the trip, we'll shuttle you back to The River House to change, enjoy the hot tub, view photos, share a drink, etc.
Don't forget to thank your guide (tips gladly accepted!)
The River House is home to Outdoor Adventure Center and River House Weddings. Easy to find, we're 1 mile off of Highway 2 (Stevens Pass Highway) between Gold Bar, WA and Skykomish, WA. Physical Address: 444 Avenue A Index, WA 98256.

This family-friendly, class III beginner-level rafting adventure begins at the River House in Index; our beautifully restored adventure facility. Here you'll view our safety video and receive your river gear; a wetsuit, booties, helmet, and pfd (changing rooms provided). Next, we'll shuttle to our nearby launch point where you'll be treated to an informative and fun "paddle talk" from your guide who will teach you some basic rafting paddlestrokes and safety techniques prior to launching the raft.
Your river adventure includes rafting on the beautiful Skykomish River through class III whitewater rapids such as Railroad and Fisherman's, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the river from your entertaining guide. This activity may include a chance to swim, try your hand with the "guide" stick, and compete in group challenges. We look forward to spending some time on this beautiful section of the river with you!
And don't worry - our photographer will be there to capture the most memorable moments so that you can share them with your friends, family, and co-workers! Photos are available for viewing and purchase in our retail store following your trip.

Why Choose Outdoor Adventure Center?
About the Skykomish River
The Skykomish River comes tumbling down from the North Central Cascades through a steep and rugged valley. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in the state. Fed by the Cascades' many tributaries, the amount of water moving through this section of river (the CFS) changes daily based on rainfall and snowmelt. We reserve the right to transfer your trip to an alternate Skykomish River run if water levels require.

This prime location allows us to provide our Skykomish rafting guests with lots of extras that aren't included on most rafting trips; a hot tub, indoor restrooms, a retail store, coffee shop and cafe, free wi-fi, indoor and outdoor seating, and free parking. It is also a great place for your less adventurous or younger friends and family to wait for you or meet up with you after your river trip. They can even take advantage of one of the numerous hikes in the area while you're out on the water, then meet back up with you to enjoy a meal and the photo slideshow!
