Family Rafting Trip on the Skykomish River

Quick Details

Per Boat Ages 6+

Washington River Float

This family-friendly Skykomish River adventure float trip is the best and closest nature trip to Seattle. The Skykomish River offers scenic views of jagged snow capped mountain peaks, evergreen forests, wildflowers, and wild trout and salmon swimming beneath your boat. You will have the opportunity for water games (weather and parent permitting!), swimming, paddling, reading the water, basic family river safety, and snacks!

Arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled trip start time. Check in using your last name. Trips begin on time (don’t miss the boat!) with a greeting from your guides. After a brief orientation and safety video (about 10 minutes total) you’ll fill out a Liability/Medical Release Form for the trip. Once your paperwork is turned in, we’ll suit up in wetsuits and related safety attire.

Your boat guide will provide instruction on paddle commands and safety procedures before we launch. River time! After the trip, we’ll shuttle you back to your vehicles. Don’t forget to thank your guide (tips gladly accepted!)

How to Reserve

Your reservation is for the entire boat (up to 6 total paddlers) so if you have more than 6 people joining you please reserve multiple boats to ensure that we can accommodate everyone. A common grouping is at least 2 adults & up to 4 additional paddlers – including youth (minimum age is 6) with a maximum of 6 people per boat. It is not necessary to have 6 paddlers, however. You can sign up any number of paddlers (as long as you have at least 2 adults for each raft).

Ages & Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this river adventure! Those that want to expend some energy and play pirate games will have a blast, and those that prefer to sit back and watch can do that too. This is a meandering Class II river adventure suitable for kids as well as adults. Call to make arrangements for paddlers younger than 6.

Throughout your river tour, your guides will share fascinating local history from the pioneer days, point out salmon and waterfowl, and identify a variety of northwest flora and fauna. This is one of the top feeding grounds for the many bald eagles, osprey and hawks that make this river valley their home. We will have several points of interest along the way; natural clay deposits, a warm water spring, swimming holes, and picturesque points for amazing photos!

Rafting fun for the whole family, this Washington State float trip is designed for all who want to explore the wild and scenic Skykomish River at a more relaxing pace, away from the cares of everyday life! Ideal for families, school groups, environmental clubs, scouts, and classes.

What to Bring

Each paddler will need to bring…

  • a swimsuit
  • water shoes (or tennis shoes that you don’t mind getting wet)
  • a long-sleeved fleece or polypropylene top (or rash guard) for sun protection and a bit of warmth
  • a towel

We also suggest croakies (a strap for your glasses – these can be purchased for $6-$10 in our Gear Shop if needed), sunscreen, and a windbreaker depending on the weather. You are welcome to bring your waterproof camera and a sun hat/visor if desired.
