Leave No Trace Master Educator courses were developed by the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and are the highest level of Leave No Trace training offered.
The LNT Master Educator course is an extensive class designed to train educators and others ways to practice and teach Leave No Trace skills and ethics. The Master Educator course provides participants with a comprehensive overview of Leave No Trace techniques through practical application in a field setting.
Students who successfully graduate from a Master Educator course will receive a diploma and be qualified to offer and teach two-day Leave No Trace trainer and one-day or shorter awareness workshops.
This course is designed for anyone looking to gain certification in minimal impact camping, especially those who will be working throughout the Pacific Northwest - Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Montana, and Canada, or who work as a sea kayak guide or instructor. Training takes place on a 5 day sea kayaking and camping adventure in the San Juan Islands on Washington's Coast. It is tailored for those who will work as sea kayak guides, naturalists, camp program staff, and outdoor educators in the Northwest region. Anyone is welcome to participate - this course is open to the public and is a valuable certification for anyone employed in the outdoor industry who is seeking to increase their knowledge of minimal impact camping and recreation.
