Paddle Safe, Paddle Smart (known as PS2) encourages safe, physical activity and skill building through fun, introductory paddling activities designed specifically for middle school and high school aged youth. Participants will learn about kayaks and paddling equipment, master basic paddling skills, practice re-entries and rescue techniques, and gain a solid foundation for a lifetime of paddling fun. All activities are taught and supervised by certified instructors and lifeguards. Each class features a unique activity which does not require any previous paddling experience. Join us for one class, or many!
Our instructors are safe, experienced, and energetic enough to supervise, teach, and challenge your teen. They hold certifications in Whitewater Rafting, Whitewater Kayaking, Swiftwater Rescue, Lifeguarding, and Wilderness First Aid. Our number one priority is to keep your child safe. We also teach them to make safe, responsible decisions when on or near the water.
Paddle Safe, Paddle Smart is a research-based educational curriculum developed by the
American Canoe Association (ACA) and the
American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR).
Looking to add PS2 to your school's PE curriculum? We have a certified Washington State teacher on staff who is eager to share her love of paddling with you students. You can also request the curriculum and teach it yourself. If you'd prefer to have some training, the ACA and AAPAR have workshops for you to become certified as a PS2 instructor.
